Scholarship for Service at Idaho State University

Criteria for Selection

Undergraduate Students

bullet United States citizen -- Not a dual national.
bullet Advanced sophomore standing with the ability to graduate within two years.
bullet Official acceptance into the undergraduate ISU program.
bullet Qualified for Junior Rising in College of Business or approval
bullet Declared major in information systems
bullet A 3.3 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale will be given preference.
bullet Evaluation of the candidate's statement of purpose and description of goals in Information Assurance.
bullet Candidates will be asked to participate in an interview.
bullet Recommendation letters from at least two faculty members.

Graduate Students

bullet United States citizen -- Not a dual national.
bullet Official acceptance by the ISU graduate school.
bullet Expected graduation with MS in information systems or MBA degree with emphasis in Information Assurance within two years.
bullet At least a 3.5 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale
bullet Recommendation letters from at least two faculty members.
bullet Candidates for a graduate degree must write a statement of purpose about their goals in Information Assurance and graduate school. .
bullet Candidates will be asked to participate in an interview.

We consider the following criteria for both undergraduate and graduate candidates:

bullet Commitment to excel in and contribute to in research associated with the NIATEC
bullet Commitment to excel in and contribute to Information Assurance internal internships
bullet Commitment to participate in a paid summer internship and service following degree completion according to the guidelines of the SFS program.
bullet Commitment to participate in assessment activities after their scholarship and required federal service has ended.
bullet Demonstrated leadership, participation in team activities, prior social service, and/or evidence of creative and independent thinking and/or acting.
bullet Students must be able to meet all requirements for federal employment in appropriate agencies including background check for security clearance.

All students will be expected to maintain at least a 3.5 average in all classes in Information Assurance.
