Dr. Springer is the manager of the National Information Assurance Training and Education Center (NIATEC). THE NIATEC is the national repository of training and educational materials in Information Assurance. Serving as the center's instructional systems designer, Dr. Springer oversees the development of Information Assurance curricula produced at the NIATEC.

His research and publication interests include the use of technology, especially multimedia, to increase the effectiveness of teaching, the application of instructional systems design models in the development of curricula in Information Assurance, on-line and distance education, and the use of technology to improve education, training, and awareness in Information Assurance.

Dr. Springer is experienced in designing and implementing educational networks, developing and implementing associated policies on the use of technology in educational settings, and developing and implement training programs in the effective use of technology in educational environements.

ACADEMIC HONORS AND AWARDS

In 2000, Dr. Springer was chosen as a research associate for the Just-In-Time Challenge Grant teacher training project at Idaho State University. In 1994, he was selected as an APAST/NSTA/NSF Summer Science Institute Fellow. He was selected as a NSF ITEACH Astronomy Institute Fellow in 1992 and 1993.
